Maria Elena Williams

Maria Williams has dedicated her life to providing housing and support to individuals in need. Born and raised in Belize City, Belize, Maria moved to the United States in 1959. Growing up with eleven siblings, she was raised in a close-knit community where families, teachers, and neighbors collectively played a role in shaping the values of the city’s youth.

Her upbringing, influenced strongly by her mother and her Catholic education at Holy Redeemer School, instilled in her a deep sense of discipline, compassion, and responsibility toward others.

Maria later pursued nursing studies through Kaiser Permanente, while also beginning a journey into property ownership with her husband, Ocie, who was originally from Birmingham, Alabama. Together, they worked to provide safe and stable living environments for others. They opened sober living homes and established two community care facilities, one serving adults and another serving children, demonstrating their shared commitment to helping vulnerable populations.

After the passing of her husband in the 1990’s, Maria continued their mission on her own. Since that time, she has independently managed and provided single-bedroom apartments, ensuring that individuals and families have access to safe and affordable housing. For decades, she has remained committed to supporting people who may be struggling and inspiring those around her to persevere.

Outside of her work, Maria enjoys spending time at the beach and connecting with people. She finds fulfillment in helping others, especially those who may not always ask for help but need encouragement and support.

Maria believes that anyone who wants to follow a similar path must genuinely love and care for people. Her advice is simple yet powerful: support one another, share experiences, and remember that everyone faces challenges in life. By uplifting each other, communities grow stronger and more compassionate.
